The term "Authorized Economic Operator" indicates an economic operator established in the territory of the European Union who has obtained, as a result of an examination by the Customs Agency, an AEO Certificate valid throughout the Community customs territory.
This certificate is issued to those who can prove compliance with customs requirements, compliance with the criteria governing the accounting system, finalcial solvency and to those who prove to respond to adequate safety standards.
The main advantages resulting from the AEO Certificate are the following: faster performances of customs formalities, the reduction of inspections, the facilities in the security sector, better relations with the Custom Authorities, and mutual recognition with other programs of reliability and security of Third Countries.
